Dimitar’s Story
Dimitar Todoranov was born in Veliko Tarnovo, the
old capital of Bulgaria.Sports and fitness were always
an integral part of his life.
1988 Fall of the Communist party, Bulgaria begins to
change rapidly. Martial Arts is no longer prohibited.
imitar becomes more involved in his studies and
discovers his passion for sports.
1990 Valentine Recov, Dimitar’s first coach, leads him
to win the Bulgarian National Championship,
his first Gold medal in Karate.
1992 Mega Tournament Super Champion, Sofia
Bulgaria, he’s the youngest person ever to win a
Gold medal.
1994 Opens his first Fitness Club and Martial Arts
School, Perun Sport Club with his business partner

1995 Perun becomes one of most successful
Martial Arts Clubs in Bulgaria
1995 Wins Balkan Champion title
1995 Dimitar moves to the capital, Sofia, and begins
working with Ikken, the largest karate club in Europe.
Winning various national and international competitions
and titles.
1996 Dimitar becomes the assistant coach of the
Bulgarian National Team
1997 Becomes the first and only European Champion
in the history of Bulgaria , winning titles in kickboxing
and karate.
1998 Velico Tarnovo University-Institute of Law,
Velico Tarnovo, Bulgaria earns Master’s degree in law
Oct. 14, 1998 Dimitar is seriously injured in a surfing
accident in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that almost claims his life.
Doctors predict that he would never be able to compete again.
Dimitar begin to train only 2 months after his surgery.
1999 Dimitar becomes the National Champion
for the 10th consecutive time (Junior’s and Mens).
This time is the most important for him as it is only
seven months after his surgery.
1999 Becomes the coach and manager of the
Bulgarian National Team.
1999 Leads the Bulgarian National Team onto winning over
100 medals in various competitions
Including the European world championships.
2000 He is invited to study in Madrid from the
Spanish National Federation, one of the world’s
leading Karate organizations He studies the theory
of martial arts training and begins working with Antonia Oliva
the world’s most renowned karate teacher and author of
numerous physical education and martial arts books
Oliva helps him to his way to became one of the world’s
top martial artists.
2000 Earns certification from the Spanish National Karate
Federation, Madrid, Spain as Physical Trainer first level.
2000 Wins his 5th Gold Medal in the Karate Super-Champion,
the biggest tournament in Bulgaria
2001 Earns a Master’s degree in Sports Management and
Physical Education from the National
Sports Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria
2001 New Image Productions invites Dimitar to work in their
martial arts movies and meet actors
such as Jean Claude Van Damme.
2002 Dimitar decides that Bulgaria and Europe are too small
for him and begins to pursue his American dream.
2002 He studies at the Steiner physical institution of Fitness
and becomes licensed as a personal trainer in aerobics, yoga,
Pilates, kickboxing, and cycling.
2002 Begins working for Steiner Leisure
(Multitrax Company, London, England) as a fitness Director
Trained and managed all spa and gym employees.
Taught classes in yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, fitball
step aerobics and body cycling.
Created exercise and nutritional programs.
Conducted daily diet and exercise seminars.
He was the top performer for Steiner Leisure.
2003 Dimitar moves to the United States
2003 Wins Arnold Swarchenegger Clssic in the open division.
Works for East Coast Athletic Club, under Tokey Hill,
World Champion of Karate
2004 Opens DimiFitness and Start his Body Fat No More
2004 Signs contract with tiva com and again becomes
one of the world’s top ten martial artists
2005 Competes in the Finals at the US Open, Las Vegas
2006 Starts Body Fat No More exclusively in Sport Club LA
